History

February, 1940Established Tokyo Prefectural Higher Technical School
February, 1943Renamed Tokyo Metropolitan High School of Technology
February, 1944Renamed Tokyo Metropolitan Technical College
February, 1949Established Tokyo Metropolitan University as a new four-year university
Based on the former system Tokyo Metropolitan High School (successor to the Prefectural High School) and 5 Tokyo Metropolitan Vocational Schools under the old system
Established with 3 faculties of Humanities, Science and Engineering.Department of Construction Engineering established in Faculty of Engineering
February, 1956The Department of Construction Engineering was divided into the Department of Architectural Engineering and the Department of Civil Engineering.
February, 1959Relocated to Fukasawa school building (all engineering school buildings will be completed in two years)

February, 1963Establishment of a graduate school doctoral course majoring in architecture
